Vieux Jeu. A brilliant way to define the true spirit of this annual celebration. There is really no doubt about this to be transcendental nor altruistic. Apparently, it's all but a grotesquely queer feeling to witness the unnerving scenery of all those. Talking about from the nine-day novena, then the Fluvial parade, the procession, up to the Sinulog mardigras. One will surely say, the whole thing is picturesque. But on the depth of that, knowing the thousands or even millions of devotee, showing their love to their patron makes it so poignant. Not to mention their sacrifices during the novena, the Fluvial parade and the procession which is surely be raining, as it has been anticipated for every year of celebration. In the midst of modesty, a number of tourists are uncountable. Year after year, the devotees are also be multiplied up to a large number of different people from different status and different walks of life. One can clearly see in the eyes of the devotees that they are contrite and having a remorse on what they had done. The moment of just staring at the patron Himself is unerringly nerve-wracking with matching goosebumps, to the extent that the tears might drop anytime at any moment. Seems like one is on a trance that the eyes are sticked unto it and nothing or no one can help but watch it pass by. Whoever is asked about the feelings will surely do not forsake the torrent emotions that they feel. It is so heart-warming that despite the triumphs or verdicts of the Cebuanos and other devotees, they are still in front of Him, clinging for forgiveness, protection and healthy living. That is why, Sinulog Festival isn't just about the festival queens with the contingents of different festivals nor about the gorgeous and stunning floats. But the best thing there, is about Sr. Sto. Niño, who is reeling in every piece of this said celebration. He is the reason why people come into one place, praising Him day after day, and that place is in His arms, right there, in His heart. Because there is no best place to feel the best comfort but only in His side. For the latter, Sinulog Festival seems to be the old-fashioned way of showing how Cebuanos value their mundane tradition. And on the lighter tone, it holds and clamors the noble vision that says: "It is not just ONE BEAT, ONE DANCE, ONE VISION, but it pertains, ONE CEBU!"...KEEP IT UP CEBUANOS!!
